Takamine RyutaroSpecially Appointed Researcher

After completing the master's program at the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Osaka University in March 2016, I engaged in CMC research for 6 years, such as establishing test methods for formulations at a pharmaceutical company. After that, I assumed my current position in April 2022, and I am conducting research to establish test methods for therapeutic oligonucleotides and establish regulations with the authorities, making use of my experience in CMC research at a pharmaceutical company.

Research theme

Establishment of separation and analysis method for therapeutic oligonucleotides impurities using Liquid Chromatography (LC)

In the current production of API for therapeutic oligonucleotides, all kinds of impurities are produced because there is no purification step until the target substance is produced by successive synthesis on the solid phase. In this study, for the purpose of controlling these impurities, we are establishing a separation analysis method for impurities and target substances by LC.

Sequence and structural analysis of therapeutic oligonucleotides impurities using Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS)

It is extremely useful to know what kind of structure impurities are produced in the current production of drug substances for therapeutic oligonucleotides in which all kinds of impurities are produced. In this research, we will conduct sequence and structural analysis of therapeutic oligonucleotides impurities using LC/MS, and provide feedback to the manufacturing side to promote the development of therapeutic oligonucleotides.
