Research theme

Neural circuits in stress-related psychiatric disorders

Stress responses are the physiological reaction for environmental adaptation; however, severe stress can cause excessive and persistent fear and anxiety. To understand whether and how distinct or overlapping neuronal ensembles regulate different responses to physiological and severe stress, we are investigating neural circuit structures and functions by using viral-genetic labeling, mesoscopic imaging, chemo-/opto-genetics, and behavioral analysis.
