Knowing the three-dimensional structure of molecules is the most important and indispensable basic process. Drugs can be rationally designed from the three-dimensional structure of the target molecule involved in the disease. Therefore, we are performing 3D-structural analysis using X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
We also manage common equipment within our faculty and cooperate with the Osaka University Renovation Center.

Research theme

Understanding the function of biological macromolecules based on three-dimensional structure analysis and application to the pharmaceutical field

By elucidating the three-dimensional structure of various molecules from organic compounds to membrane protein complexes by X-ray crystal structure analysis, we aim to understand biological phenomena and develop drug discovery.
