Research theme

Development of Biomaterials Based on the Control of Interfaces

In biomaterials that exert their functions by contact with biomolecules, it is extremely important to control the interaction at the interface. We are developing analytical biodevices and three-dimensional cell scaffolds based on interface modification and control technologies for plastics and inorganic materials.

Functional Control of Biomass Plastics by Surface Modification

The replacement of petroleum-derived plastics with biomass plastics is an effective means of reducing environmental impact, including a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, and is also expected to become biomaterials. We have achieved functional control of biomass plastics by applying our original photo-surface modification technology.

Organic Synthesis using Multifunctional Synthetic Units

In order to achieve a safe and sustainable society in the future, there is an ever-increasing demand for the development of novel, the development of novel, safe and efficient reactions and highly functional reagents is needed. We are developing synthetic methods using multifunctional synthetic units that can introduce multiple functional groups in a single step, with the aim of developing reactions and reagents that are easy to operate and can be used by anyone.
