Interdisciplinary Program for Biomedical Sciences (IPBS)
Interdisciplinary Program for Biomedical Sciences (IPBS) is funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. About 10~20 students are accepted each year from 12 departments at Osaka University and from abroad.
IPBS is an interdepartmental graduate training program in biomedical sciences. Our faculty members are drawn from the graduate schools of Medicine, Pharmacology, Engineering, Frontier Biosciences, Science, Dentistry and also from pharmaceutical industries including Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd and Shionogi & Co., Ltd.
We offer a number of curricula aimed at bringing students and researchers together from different departments and institutions to share their work on topics of mutual interest in class and research settings. For example, intensive interdisciplinary biomedical courses taught by our program faculty are held during the first two years in English. Researchers from the industry will be invited for seminars on drug development and corporate leadership from the second year.
