4. Objectives and job description:
Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Osaka University has established the Innovative Center for Drug Discovery and Development in 2013. The center invites worldwide applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the pharmaceutical sciences (especially, in the fields of drug discovery based on artificial nucleic acids, iPS cells or chemical libraries). The center would like to:
1. acquire talented, highly qualified researchers who are expected in the international research community;
2. support researchers equipped with pioneering spirits in both research and education, and with the potential to become leaders of future generations; and
3. promote strategic personnel management to enhance major academic disciplines and create new scientific fields.
The researcher will be provided with a research budget up to ten million yen for the first year and seven million yen for the second year. (The amount of the budget may depend on the fund from the MEXT.)
At the end of the fifth fiscal year (March 2019), the appointee will be evaluated by the review committee and then, if approved, promoted to regular Assistant Professor or Lecture. The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Osaka University will be able to prepare a regular position. If not approved, the employment will be terminated. Annual salary is the same as tenured faculty members at the same rank in the school. Research-related teaching in English (or in Japanese) is required.

5. Qualifications:
An applicant needs to have a Ph.D. degree, which has been received not more than 10 years ago as of April 1, 2014, or is expected to be received before April 1, 2014.
